How to Play

Welcome to Hi89. This quick guide covers the core table games players enjoy here: Baccarat, Blackjack, Roulette, and Texas Hold'em. Use these simple, practical rules to start playing with confidence.

Baccarat: Quick start guide

The aim is to bet on which hand will be closest to 9 or to bet on a tie. The Player and Banker each receive two cards; a third card may be drawn according to the rules. The hand value is the rightmost digit of the total; tens are dropped. Suits don’t matter.

  • Bet options: Player, Banker, or Tie. Payouts are 1 to 1 for Player, 1 to 1 minus 5% commission for Banker, and 9 to 1 for Tie. Bets on Banker or Player are returned if the round ends in a Tie.
  • Natural and drawing: If either hand totals 8 or 9 on the initial deal, no more cards are drawn. If not, the Player draws a third card if the initial total is 0–5; the Banker draws per the standard table based on its total and the Player’s third card.
  • Winning: after any draws, the hand closer to 9 wins. Tie pays as noted; non tie bets are returned if there is a tie.

Blackjack: Beat the dealer to 21

Hi89 Blackjack uses two standard decks and allows up to four hands at once. Your goal is to beat the Dealer without exceeding 21.

  • Setup and play: place a wager, receive two cards, the Dealer shows one card face up. Actions depend on your cards and options you choose.
  • Actions: Hit or Stand; Split pairs up to three times (four hands total); Double Down after receiving your first two cards; Insurance when the Dealer shows an Ace.
  • Card values and specials: face cards count as 10, Aces as 1 or 11, and you can draw up to 11 cards as long as you stay at or below 21. A natural Blackjack is an Ace plus a 10-value card on the initial deal.
  • Payouts: Blackjack pays 3 to 2. Other winning hands pay 1 to 1. If the Dealer has Blackjack, the round ends. If you split or double down and the Dealer has Blackjack, you lose that hand.

Roulette: Spin and bet on numbers

Hi89 Roulette uses a European wheel with 37 slots. Predict the landing slot to win. Bets are placed with chips on the table and resolved after the spin.

  • Bet types: Inside bets include Straight Up, Split, Street, Corner, and Line. Outside bets cover Columns, Dozens, Red/Black, Even/Odd, and 1 to 18 or 19 to 36. Special Bets and Neighbor Bets are available at the table as well. Zero is not covered by the columns.
  • Payouts: vary by bet type; Straight Up typically pays 35 to 1, others lower. Table rules may adjust payouts slightly by variant.
  • Playing flow: place your bets, confirm, spin the wheel, and wait for the ball. Winnings are paid per bet type if your number or group hits.

Texas Hold'em: Basics

Texas Hold'em is a community card game played at Hi89 with two private hole cards and five community cards. Build the best five card hand to win the pot. The dealer button moves clockwise and blinds seed the pot before cards are dealt.

  • Game flow: Preflop with players betting on their hole cards, then the Flop (three community cards), Turn (fourth), and River (fifth). Showdown determines the winner if more than one player remains.
  • Hands and betting: hand strength uses standard poker rankings. The minimum bet is the big blind; many tables use No Limit, Pot Limit, or Limits depending on the game. All-in is possible in No Limit games.
  • Strategy tips: watch position, manage your stack, and mix up aggression. Focus on making the best five card hand or forcing folds with smart bets.
